Several of our physiotherapists are Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). This means that they have undergone extensive post-graduate course work, mentorship, as well as completed written, case history and practical exams in order to gain this internationally recognized certification. CAMPT-qualified physiotherapists are devoted to understanding how and why movement improves function. We seek to maximize our effectiveness by pursuing advanced clinical expertise and specialized training in manual therapies.
For more information on Manipulative Physiotherapy visit the CAMPT website or watch the video below.
Exercise is an important part of physiotherapy. Your physiotherapist will work with you to identify your individual needs and tailor your exercises appropriately. These exercises may involve: stretching, strengthening, range of motion, postural exercises, proprioception/balance activities.
As an adjunct to manual therapy, exercise and education, your physiotherapist may choose to use therapeutic modalities to assist with reduction of pain and/or inflammation. GLA:D Canada is an evidence-based treatment program for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis (OA). The program was first developed in Denmark and is now available in Canada.
This treatment approach includes an individualized Physiotherapy assessment, 2 x 90-minute education sessions and 12 supervised, small-group exercise sessions (twice a week for 6 weeks). All sessions are with a GLA:D-certified physiotherapist and can be billed to most insurance companies.
There have been over 30,000 participants world-wide in the GLA:D program. Some of the benefits of the program include: an average of 26% improvement in pain, over 30% of participants showed a marked improvement in activities of daily living and recreation, and over 40% of participants reported a marked improvement in quality of life. Participants with knee OA were less likely to need medication at their 12 month follow up than at the start of the program.

We are pleased to offer TeleRehabilitation (TeleHealth) services to those who are unable to make it into the clinic for treatments. These sessions occur over a secured video conferencing platform that allows our Physiotherapists to speak with you and assess your movements.
We are able to perform assessments, as well as to educate you about your condition, provide advice to maximize your recovery, and prescribe exercise all from the comfort of your own home.
This service is covered by most private medical insurance plans (including: Medavie Blue Cross, Sun Life, Manulife, Great West Life/Canada Life, DVA) and by WCB Nova Scotia.
